Peter Theriault, a 51-year-old man, was allegedly shot and killed by Judy Valot on December 2, 1998. According to prosecutors, Valot had developed an obsession with the mistaken belief that Theriault was having an affair with a 19-year-old co-worker. Although Theriault's body has not been located, officials believe that he was buried in the vicinity of Blythe. Valot was taken into custody a week after the incident when investigators noticed discrepancies in her account, including a delay of five days in reporting Theriault's disappearance.
