A teenager disappears on the way to a video store
Our cold case database is in danger of no longer being maintained.
At the time of her disappearance, she lived with her mother, stepfather, siblings and stepsiblings. She did not see her biological father very often. She worked part time at a shade & venetian blinds packaging factory. Her Mom said she had a bit of a wild streak and enjoyed going to parties, it didn’t seem to be more than most kids her age.
Kelly was hanging out a girlfriends house on June 12, 1984, also in Lynbrook. She left there between 9:30-10am, and was believed to be heading to Caption Video to get select some videos, but she never arrived. When she didn’t arrive home that night or the next day, her mom wasn’t too concerned at it had been raining, and she assume Kelly had slept over her friends house. Kelly was last seen at the corner of Earl Avenue and Merrick Road in Lynbrook, New York. She was wearing a pink sleeveless shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, and a gold chain with a charm on it. She also has both ears pierced and a scar on her forehead.
Authorities do not believe Kelly ran away willingly. She had laid out the clothes she was planning to wear for the next day, she never picked up her last paycheck, and she left behind all of her money and personal belongings.
Also, the date of her disappearance coincides with a final exam she was supposed to take in her summer school social studies class. Kelly’s disappearance remains unsolved and it’s unknown if her disappearance is connected to two murders local to that area, that posses some similar circumstances. She is believed to be deceased by both police and her family.
