Overview of John Christopher Terry
John Christopher Terry - sometimes referred to as Johan - is best described as a father of two boys who worked hard to support his children. John was divorced from the mother of the sons but was the custodial parent. Many who know John describe him as a valued mechanic in his workplace who got along with everyone. That same evening that he vanished, the Abbott High School was having its homecoming.
On the evening of Friday, October 17, 2014, John ran some errands after work before stopping at his local Wal-Mart for some groceries, including pet food. Surveillance footage would show him alive, inside the Wal-Mart at 6:30 PM. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with "Gene's Auto Service" in red lettering on the front and back, blue jeans, tan work boots, a watch, and a blue Dallas Cowboys baseball cap.
Oddly enough, his 2014 silver Jeep Compass with the license plate DLL1752 was discovered by police approximately 25 miles from his home. The car was low on gas, with the windows rolled down and the keys still in the ignition. John's work shirt, cigarettes, and cell phone were still in the front seat, and the pet food he had just purchased at Wal-Mart was still in the back seat. John's wallet was missing. Police speculate that someone parked John's car to throw off investigators, despite no signs of foul play in the car. When police investigated John's home - which is located in a remote location on his father's property - they discovered a small amount of blood spatter on the front door, indicating he may not have made it inside.
A photo emerged on a missing person's website that was suspected to be John, taken on a street in Mexico. However, it was eventually confirmed not to be him. Police also looked into a Facebook posting John had made the day before he vanished indicating he had bought a bed from someone, but he never picked it up and the bed was not in his residence after he disappeared. Law enforcement has not ruled out foul play in John's disappearance.
