On Friday, October 30, 1981, 17-year-old Janice Fullam had gone to a friends house in Smithtown, New York to try to convince her to come with her to a bar. When her friend declined, Janice left her home at 10:45 pm, and had started walking west on the Nesconset Highway. Janice was headed to a local bar to meet up with her older brother, Jimmy, who had planned to go to a nightclub in New York City together. According to her brother, Janice never made it to the bar.

The next morning, Janice's family quickly realized that she was missing when they couldn't find her in their house. Janice has not been seen or heard from since.
