Virginia is assaulted outside of a tavern on April 24, 1993, allegedly by her husband, Larry, and her brother-in-law, Roger.

Police arrive on the scene at approximately 10:00pm, and transport Virginia to a local hospital. Larry is quickly arrested and charged with domestic assault and taken to jail.

Virginia is transported to the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine by police for treatment.

From here, according to Larry, he goes back to Jody's, where the altercation initially took place, and searches for Virginia and Roger. Larry claims that he did not know that his wife is in the hospital at this time. Additionally, Larry claims that he sits in his car until around 4:30am, then drives home, stopping at every truck stop and rest area along the way, in an effort to search for Virginia and Roger.

Penobscot County Jail

Around 1:00am, when doctors turn their attention away from Virginia to a shooting victim, Virginia leaves the hospital without permission, and without informing anyone. According to hospital staff, Virginia claimed she had to get home to her children.

Eastern Maine Medical Center

While she is there, she makes several calls to family members and friends for a ride home. No one has seen or heard from her since.

Truck Stop

Sometime between 6:30am and 6:45am, Larry arrives back at his home and relieves the babysitter. According to Larry, the babysitter informed him that Virginia had called them for a ride home approximately 2 hours earlier.

When Virginia doesn't return home by the following day, Larry calls the Maine State Police and reports her missing. From here, he claims that he went back out to the area and continues his search for her.
