On September 26th, 1995, Virginia Jackson was last seen leaving a tavern with Jerry Ray Davidson. Despite her plans to take a cab, the local cab services were closed, and Davidson offered her a ride.

On October 5, 1995, Virginia Jackson was reported missing. Later, police found a shovel, knife, and firearms in Davidson's truck, along with evidence of a struggle. Three weeks after her disappearance, Jackson's body was found in a shallow grave, decapitated. Her head has never been found.

Davidson, now in his 70s, has a history of assault and sexual assault spanning three decades and is currently in the general population of a Nashville prison.
