Michael Masaoay, a 16- year-old junior at Sacred Heart School left home in 7:30 a.m. He say that is his way on school according to his mother although the family was to learn that Sacred Heart had been closed for the day. Masaoay was seen later day morning " hanging out " at Ninth and Harrison streets and later that afternoon at Seventh and Market streets. Although he reportedly was seen later that day in South of Market area no one has heard from him.

On Feb 21 a couple walking on the beach, adjacent to the Presidio discovered a duffel bag wedged under some large rocks. However the discovery was not reported until 6 days later. The man was unable to free the bag but he removed some of items including clarinet case, 2 books , one pair of dark trousers and the white t shirt. Bag recovered in tuesday buy then bag conteinen only part of clarinet.
