Overview of Lavita Anthony
Lavita Anthony was a kind, gentle 51 year old woman living unhoused in Miami in 2014.
Lavita was experiencing homelessness at the time of her murder, but she would often stay at a shelter called the Camillus House, which provided resources to the homeless and hungry, and to those struggling in poverty or with substance abuse. Lavita, who was also known as ‘Sharon’, would often travel back and forth from Miami, FL to Chicago, IL until she decided to move back to Illinois to be closer to family. Sadly, Lavita never had the chance to return home.
"She would not harm anybody.” - Anthony Anderson, Camillus House employee.
