Jerome Clements Charles was last seen on June 2, 1984, in Eugene, Oregon, after leaving his father's west 3rd Street residence. He left, saying he was going for a walk and would be back in about two hours. He has never been heard from again.

At the time of his disappearance, Charles was on parole after serving one year of a four-year sentence for theft and was released from the Oregon State Penitentiary seventeen months before he went missing. His family had a notorious criminal history, including convictions for violent crimes, and Charles' father believed the police might have murdered him.

His case remains unsolved, and no suspects have been named.
