A Houston person is shot, potentially targeted for being transgender
Our cold case database is in danger of no longer being maintained.
At around 6:00am on the morning of December 13, 2017, Brandi was sitting in her car in Houston’s Sunnyvale neighborhood when neighbors reported hearing a series of gunshots. Neighbors reported that they heard six shots, which hit Brandi’s car as well as a neighbor’s garage. After the being shot, Brandi tried to get out of her car, only to collapse on the driveway of an unfinished home.
Police have suggested that Brandi might have been killed by someone after they realized that she was a transgender woman; a real and present danger to transwomen, particularly women of color. Police are still searching for Seals’ killer. They are encouraging anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the killer to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
