Overview of Daniel Davis
Daniel “Danny” Davis was born on September 6, 1962. He had just started his job as a cook at the Speedway Burger Chef when he, along with three other employees, was abducted on the evening of November 17, 1978. Danny was so new he had not even received his first paycheck.
Danny attended Decatur Central High School in Indiana. As a sophomore, he was a member of the Latin Club. He expressed interest in photography and wanted to join the Air Force after high school. He was quiet and kept his circle of friends small, but was enthusiastic about his interests.
In George Nichols’s account of the evening of November 17th, he claims he obtained matches from a Burger Chef employee at about 11:15. It is thought that the employee was Danny Davis.
Danny and fellow employee Ruth Shelton were found shot to death in a wooded area in Johnson County, Indiana on November 19, 1978. Their manager, Jayne Friedt, was stabbed to death. Another employee, Mark Flemmonds, died as a result of blunt force trauma.
