Barbara Nellie Lunsford was last seen on October 12, 1963 when she left her home near Short Street and Georgetown Street to go to a doctor’s appointment at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Authorities believe she may have taken a local bus to the medical center, though she never arrived for her appointment.
Three months after she was last seen, on January 17, 1964, a search for Barbara was conducted in the Lexington, KY area. There is no additional information available about this search or whether anything was found.
Today, it has been more than 59 years since Barbara has been seen or heard from. Her disappearance remains unsolved and is considered to be a cold case by Lexington authorities.
At the time of her disappearance in October of 1963, Barbara Nellie Lunsford was described as a 23 year old caucasian woman with brown hair and blue eyes. She was 5’4” tall and weighed approximately 115 lbs. Barbara has an overbite and was last seen wearing a brown checked dress.
