Do you know who killed Antonio Darrelle Smith and Arlene Angela Byrd in 2010?
Our cold case database is in danger of no longer being maintained.
Antonio Smith was known as ‘Butter’ by his family, friends, and his community and they loved him dearly. He lived in Salisbury, Maryland and was described by his loved ones as having an “outgoing, fun-filled personality” who was very giving. He ensured to make time for his family and was there for anyone who needed his help. Antonio received his education from the school system of Wicomico County. He loved football and basketball; they were his favorite hobbies—hobbies that he was great at, specifically football.
On July 17, 2010, Antonio attended a party at Brew River with Arlene Byrd. They left the restaurant to return to his apartment around 3 am where they were accosted by multiple suspects. The police believe that both Antonio and Arlene were tortured before they were killed in his apartment due to their autopsy reports.
Antonio’s life was cut short, and he was removed from the lives of so many family members and friends that loved him: his mother, four sisters, his significant other, his son, stepdaughter, and so many more relatives and friends that miss him dearly.
Antonio’s case has been unsolved, but it was reopened by Sgt. Lance Lloyd of Maryland State Police in November of 2020. They are actively working on new leads with the help from Salisbury Police Department. If you have any information about the murder of Antonio ‘Butter’ Smith, please contact the Maryland State Police at (410) 749-3101, Salisbury Police Department at (410) 548-3165 or you can submit a tip to Crime Solvers at (410) 548-1776 who is offering a reward for information that will lead to a resolution of Antonio's case.
