Overview of Andrea White

Andrea Jerri White, also known as “Chic”, was a loving mother of four who was a half Hoopa, half Yurok Indigenous woman.

Unfortunately, not much is known about who Andrea was as a person prior to her disappearance. Her children, however, remember that she was very outgoing and a beautiful young woman, who had her whole life ahead of her.

“As far as any physical appearance, I don’t really have the memory. I can’t really see her physical appearance, you know, like facial features or anything. But she had an older Camaro car that was real loud so I know, I knew, that whenever she was home, I’d hear that car pulling up.” - Arnold Davis III, Andrea’s son.
Andrea and her children
“I’m told she was outgoing, kind of like a free bird. Everybody always said that she was beautiful.” - Arnold Davis III, Andrea’s son.

Andrea was last seen on a highway near Blue Lake, CA.

In July of 1991, Andrea traveled from her home in Hoopa, CA to Eureka, CA for a scheduled court date. According to reports, this court date was due to a DUI charge that she had received a few weeks earlier. She had also lost custody of her children for the time being due to this charge.

On July 31, 1991, Andrea, who was known to hitchhike, was last seen on Highway 299, slightly east of the Blue Lake, CA exit. She is believed to have been hitchhiking back to Hoopa, CA after her court appearance. Based on witness reports, authorities believe that Andrea may have taken a ride from someone driving a green and white four-door Chevrolet Impala, possibly a 1964 with snow/mud tires.

“She was fighting to get us back. That’s why she hitchhiked to court.” - Arnold Davis III, Andrea’s son.

Andrea was last seen wearing Levi jeans, possibly a sleeveless white shirt, and a black leather jacket. She was carrying a black leather jacket along with a black and white Spalding duffle bag. Inside the duffle bag is a purple skirt, black sweater, black satin pumps, and black spandex tights with lace at the ankle.

The search for Andrea begins.

On August 15, 1991, authorities conducted a wide-spread search of the area of Highway 299, where Andrea was last seen. They focus their search primarily in the area between Blue Lake, CA and Willow Creek, adjacent to the highway. Nothing is found during their search. In an information bulletin released by officials in September of 1991, authorities announced their belief that foul play may have been involved in Andrea’s disappearance.

Where the case stands today.

Today it has been more than 31 years since Andrea was last seen and her case remains unsolved. Andrea’s kids have had to grow up without their mother and have openly expressed their wishes to have her be returned to them. If you have any information regarding Andrea’s disappearance or her whereabouts, please contact the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office at (707) 445-7251. There is currently a $1,000 reward for information leading to her return or to the individual(s) responsible for her disappearance.

At the time of her disappearance, Andrea was described as an Indigenous woman with brown hair and brown eyes. She was 5’ tall and weighed approximately 115 lbs. She has a 5" long scar on the left side of her temple. Her nickname is 'Chic'.
