Overview of Yu Goodson
Yu Goodson was last seen leaving a halfway house where she was living.
On the afternoon of March 25, 2005, 54 year old Yu Chin Goodson was seen leaving a halfway house on the 100 block of Norton Avenue in Russellville, AL. Shortly after, a witness reported to authorities that they had seen someone matching Yu’s description get into a small gray/silver older-model car, possibly a Nissan or a Mazda, with a loud muffler. The car reportedly heads east on Highway 24 towards Decatur, AL. This has not been confirmed by authorities.
Several potential sightings are reported.
After being included in America's Most Wanted Missing Person’s Hotline, several sightings of Yu were reported to officials. The sightings, though none have been confirmed, were within the Huntsville, AL area, specifically around the Parkway Place Mall in Huntsville, AL.
“It is frustrating. You get a tip like that, you get someone who is so adamant that they feel like this is really the lady we’re looking for and then whenever an officer gets in the area over there and can’t find her, it kind of lets the wind out of your sails.” - Russellville Detective Lowery.
Where the case stands today.
Today, Yu remains missing. When she left the halfway house, she did not take any forms of identification with her. She also has not accessed her bank accounts since March 25, 2005. At the time of her disappearance, Yu was described as an Asian female with black, graying hair and brown eyes who weighed approximately 150 lbs and stood 5’2” tall. Yu has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, diabetes, and hypertension, which all require daily medications. She is not insulin-dependent. Yu was last seen wearing a pink shirt and blue jeans.
“There’s always hope until we can verify a person is actually deceased there’s always hope to find that person alive, and we hope we can find Ms. Goodson alive and well,” said Russellville detective Scotty Lowery.
Yu is known to pray a lot, have crying episodes, and loves children. She has connections to the Florence, AL area along with the Decatur, AL area, where her son lives. Yu may appear intoxicated or disoriented, and may be staying in homeless shelters.
