A woman is shot just steps from her front door
Our cold case database is in danger of no longer being maintained.
According to the Star Tribune, Tomika Swoope walked her cousin to the bus stop a block and half away from her home; she then made a quick stop at the Southside Food & Deli for an orange Push-Up and a Slim Jim. She was just steps from her front door when her family in the 3200 block of Columbus Avenue S. heard many gunshots. Tomika, 19, was hit just above her left eyebrow shortly after 10 p.m. on April 25, 2011. She was in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center, where doctors told her family she had 24 to 36 hours at most to live, said her uncle, Ernest Breland. She passed away on April 27, 2011.
