On July 4, 1981, Stacey Gilman was walking along Waikiki Beach, near Fort DeRussy, during the 4th of July fireworks display when she was struck by a bullet. Gilman, who was visiting Oahu from New Jersey, was only nineteen at the time of her death. Witnesses assisted the police in preparing sketches of two possible suspects.
