Overview of Shane Govan
Shane Govan, a resident of the 100 block of Sweetgum Lane in Cordova, South Carolina, has been missing since November 10, 2008, after he visited friends at a house on Citron Drive. According to sources, Govan called his fiancee around 10:09 p.m. that evening to inform her that he would be returning home soon. Shortly thereafter, a small gray Toyota truck began circling the neighborhood.
Around 10:15 p.m., the truck pulled up to where Govan was, and a witness reported hearing the sound of two men arguing, followed by multiple gunshots. One of the men was overheard shouting, "I should kill you," before several more shots were fired, and the truck quickly sped away.
Police later discovered Govan's cellular phone, cigarette lighter, and over 30 bullet casings at the crime scene. Govan has not been heard from since, and it is presumed that he was kidnapped.
On the day he disappeared, Govan was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation with another individual, although it is unclear whether the incident had anything to do with his abduction. Govan, who has a criminal record for drug-related offenses, was the father of two young sons at the time of his disappearance.
Sadly, Govan's mother passed away several months after his disappearance. Given the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, foul play is suspected. The police investigation into his case remains ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
