Overview of Rosselys Hernandez
Rosselys Hernandez, a Jupiter, Florida resident, was last seen on November 28, 2016. Hernandez, who was living with her three children at a women's shelter in Jupiter, has not been heard from since then. Her estranged husband, Daniel Paul York, moved to Monticello, Kentucky with Hernandez's children in December of the same year. York had filed for custody of her three children, claiming that Hernandez was an unfit mother with untreated mental health problems. Hernandez, on the other hand, accused York of physical abuse and sexual abuse of their eldest child. She was granted a restraining order against York, but later asked for the order to be dissolved.
York suggested that Hernandez may have left him and returned to her native Dominican Republic. Hernandez's sister believes that her disappearance is suspicious since Hernandez was a devoted mother who would not have abandoned her children. York has not been named a suspect in her disappearance, and authorities have not disclosed any details on the investigation.
In February 2018, child protective services in Kentucky took custody of Hernandez's children. In March, Hernandez's youngest daughter told her therapist that York had sexually assaulted her multiple times between early 2017 and early 2018. In April, the oldest daughter, who was now fifteen years old, ran away from her foster home to be with York. In June, the pair was found in Pulaski County, Kentucky. York was charged with multiple counts of incest and rape, and the girl was taken into protective custody. Hernandez's disappearance remains unsolved.
