On May 9, 2001 in the early morning hours, Paulsboro resident Rashaun Julius Nelson, age 21, was discovered deceased in front of a residence on West Buck Street, Paulsboro, New Jersey. The investigation revealed Rashaun Julius Nelson was on a bicycle when he was encountered by two men and subsequently shot in the head causing his death.
