Update: Two suspects have been charged with Patrenia's murder.

Patrenia Butler-Turner went missing in December 2013 after getting into a pickup in East St. Louis. Roger Dale Sutton Jr., who has multiple convictions for crimes such as residential burglary and battery, was taken into custody in 2021 for meth possession. In December 2022, authorities received a tip of skeletal remains in a wooded area in Pontoon Beach, Illinois, which were confirmed to be Butler-Turner through DNA analysis. The cause of death was determined to be strangulation. Sutton has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and his nephew, Nathan J. Beyer, has been charged with concealing Butler-Turner's body.
