In January 1990, the nude body of Mildred Gumbo was found along the road near Heeia Kea Boat Harbor in Kaneohe, Hawaii. She had recently returned to Hawaii from living on the mainland for a year and had been staying with her estranged husband. According to her estranged husband, she went out with a man he described as local and left again hours later taking his car. His car was later found in a parking lot of Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center. Reports indicate that Gumbo had been assaulted and strangled. The case is still open and unsolved.
