Do you know what happened to Kyle?
Our cold case database is in danger of no longer being maintained.
Update: Authorities have confirmed that skeletal remains found inside a car in a creek over a year ago belong to Kyle Clinkscales, a 22-year-old Auburn University student who went missing in 1976.
Despite draining lakes and searching for Kyle and his white 1974 Ford Pinto, investigators did not receive a break in the case until the car was spotted and reported in December 2021. While Clinkscales' cause and manner of death have not been determined, two people were accused of hindering the investigation into his death, but no one was charged with murder. Clinkscales' parents, who had received a mysterious call about their son's death, did not live long enough to hear the confirmation of their son's fate.
Kyle was last seen at approximately 11:00 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 1976, leaving the Moose Club in LaGrange, Georgia. He was presumably en route to Auburn University in Alabama. He may have a mustache.
