Kaya was last seen in Rohnert Park, CA sometime between mid-2010 and mid-2012 after being withdrawn from her second-grade elementary school in order to be homeschooled. It was not until July 2020 that authorities became aware of Kaya's disappearance, however. While investigating allegations of physical, sexual and emotional abuse of Kaya's younger siblings by their adoptive parents over an eight-to-ten year period, the Rohnert Park Departmentof Public Safety became aware that their older sister, Kaya, had disappeared eight to ten years earlier. Although Gina and Jose Centeno were arrested for aggravated kidnapping of Kaya (and various sex offenses of her siblings), Kaya's whereabouts are still unknown.
