Joseph Richard Kempter vanished after leaving a nursing facility.

On July 5, 2004, Joseph was last seen leaving the Topeka, KS nursing home facility that he was staying at, on foot. He hasn't been seen or heard from since. Joseph had left the facility on foot before, but always returned or was returned. On at least one occasion, he returned on foot shortly after leaving. On another occasion, he was found at a mission facility in Denver, CO.

Today, Joseph has remained missing for more than 18 years without a trace. Authorities have been unable to locate any sign of him since his disappearance, leading his case to be considered a "cold case". At the time of his disappearance in 2004, Joseph was described as a 63 year old caucasian man with gray hair and brown eyes. He was between 6'-6'1" tall and weighed approximately 177-260 lbs. Joseph is "humpbacked", he walks with his head down and is missing a toe on his right foot. He was last seen wearing a button-down shirt and khaki pants. Today, Joseph would be 82 years old.
