In the months leading up to her disappearance, Jennifer Kesse told her family how uncomfortable the construction workers had made her feel. Her condo complex was undergoing a renovation, and many of the workers were living in the empty apartments. She felt like they were looking at her, and others complained of comments they'd made.

She spoke with her boyfriend, Rob Allen, and her family over the phone during the course of the evening. This took place inside her apartment.

According to her family, when they later visited her apartment it was locked. There was a damp towel next to the shower, and her purse, iPod, and briefcase were missing. This suggests she encountered trouble after leaving for work.

Her black Chevy Malibu is seen by another tenant swerving near the exit of her complex. She said it looked as though two people were fighting over the steering wheel.

According to security camera footage, an unknown person parks her car. They drive into the parking lot, sit in the car for 30 seconds, then walk away. The person's face is obstructed by a fence, and is still unknown.

Jennifer did not show up to her job as a finance manager at a time-share company. She had recently gotten a promotion, and friends and family said it would have been very unlike her to not show up.

Kesse's family comes to check on her after learning that she did not show up to work. When they get to her condo, nothing appears to be out of place, and the door is locked. A damp towel was found near her shower suggesting she was abducted before going to work.

Jennifer's black Chevy Malibu is found abandoned one mile away in a nearby apartment complex in a high-crime area. Police would later release information that it appeared someone was thrown down on the hood of the car and dragged off, indicating a struggle took place.

Drew Kesse, Jennifer's father, remarked it was the hardest thing he's ever done.

The family felt the police were getting nowhere with their investigation and sued to get access to the police files. They settled out of court, and the police turned over 16,000 documents to the family. This also means the family is now the lead of this case, not the Orlando PD.

Following up on a tip that a witness saw someone dump a roll of carpet into it, the Kesse family had Lake Fischer searched. The construction crew at Jennifer's complex were laying carpet the day she disappeared. No evidence was found, but they are hoping to search again.
