A Shannon man was sentenced to 10 to 13 years in prison Wednesday for the murder of a Red Springs man who disappeared in 2002, according to District Attorney Johnson Britt.Reginald Murphy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old Galion Leak. Britt said that the motive was to keep Leak from testifying against Murphy’s brothers, who have been charged with murder in a separate cash.Investigators from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office believe Leak was shot and killed in an area called the “Campbell Compound†in September 2002. A missing-persons report was filed on Sept. 14, 2002, by Leak’s family members. During the investigation information surfaced that Leak was shot in the head and buried off of Johnson Road near the compound, authorities said.
