Overview of Elizabeth Prescott

Elizabeth Iris Pagliacceti Prescott, also known as Beth, was recently married and living in Callaway, FL with her new husband at the time of her disappearance.

Elizabeth is described by her parents as a happy, talkative young woman, who had recently graduated from Rutherford High School. Elizabeth made friends easily and would stop to chat with anyone she encountered. Her father adds in an interview that Elizabeth would often be too naive, explaining that if someone were to approach her while she was walking, she may quickly take a ride from them without a second thought. It seemed that Elizabeth truly viewed the world as a wonderful, friendly place.

“She’s always very jolly, the kind of person who could talk to anyone” - Donna Pagliaccetti, Elizabeth’s mother.

Elizabeth vanishes.

Elizabeth was last seen by her husband, Coy, on the morning of April 30, 2004 before he left their home for work. As the couple had planned before he left for work, Coy called Elizabeth around 2:30 pm to let her know that he had left work and was approximately an hour away from home. This call went unanswered.

When Coy arrived home around an hour later, he found the home to be empty. He found a damp towel hanging in the bathroom and all of Elizabeth’s belongings in their usual places. The only unusual thing Coy noted was that $50 was missing from the home. The following morning, when Elizabeth failed to return home, he contacted police and made the missing persons report. Though the exact time of her disappearance is unknown, authorities believe that she vanished sometime between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The search for Elizabeth begins.

Immediately after Elizabeth was reported missing, authorities began their search for information. Though Elizabeth’s case was officially labeled as a missing person case, authorities have reported that they’re treating her case as a homicide investigation, due to the “suspicious circumstances” surrounding her disappearance.

“Sadly in this case there was just no evidence or no clue of where she had gone or what happened,” said Lt. Jeremy Mathis, Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Where the case stands today.

In 2007, authorities conducted a wide-spread search of a 2-acre wooded area and a small drainage pond near Elizabeth and Coy’s home. Unfortunately, nothing of evidentiary value was found during the search.

“We don’t forget about these cases, they don’t go away, this is still an open case and we would love to be able to provide some closure to the family,” Police Lt. Mathis.

Today, Elizabeth’s case remains open in hopes for new evidence to present itself and new leads to follow up on in her disappearance. If you have any information, please contact the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 747-4700.

“If somebody wants to come forward and wants to provide information, that information will be between myself and them and if that’s that person’s wish, I will do my best to keep it that way. You know, if we have some information, sometimes just somebody steering us in the right direction from, you know, us having all these possibilities of what may have happened to have somebody narrow that focus down to a certain event or a certain person if there is some foul play or whatever the case may be.” - Police Captain Daffin
