Overview of Charles Thompson
CHARLES W. THOMPSON MURDERED DECEMBER 21, 1987 JALISCO'S RESTAURANT 5000 STATE AVENUE KANSAS CITY, KANSAS On Monday, December 21, 1987, at approximately 8:15 A.M. Charles W. Thompson was found lying on the sidewalk in front of Jalisco's Restaurant located at 5000 State Avenue, in Kansas City, Kansas. Thompson was found shot numerous times in the upper torso area. Thompson was a local Kansas City, Kansas attorney, and at the time of the murder was the Democratic Chairman of the Wyandotte County Central Committee, and was very active in politics. The investigation has determined that Thompson was at the restaurant meeting with what he thought was a prospective client. It was believed that Thompson was sitting in his vehicle at the time that he was shot. The initial investigation was handled by the Kansas City Metro Squad, the case was later turned over to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for primary investigation. On or about January 25, 1988, a $5,000 Governors Reward was requested by the Wyandotte County District Attorneys office, which was subsequently given. The investigation which is continuing has developed strong evidence that the murder of Thompson was a calculated, planned "MURDER FOR HIRE". It is believed that there are individuals that have information that could lead to the filing of criminal charges in this case.
