Cathleen Dennis was last seen on July 10, 1995. Cathleen's family Her family describes her as goofy and a joy to be around. She was the life of the party.
Cathleen had recently traveled with her sister, Deanna, from Omaha, Nebraska, because they were both sex workers, but wanted to work outside their hometown. They arrived in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Friday, July 7, 1995, and stayed in a hotel room. That evening, Cathleen and her sister had a few drinks at a club before they went to work. They went to a location known as the "Division", which was a track. The division was where the sisters could find work.
By 4AM on Saturday morning, Deanna was ready to go back to the hotel room, but her sister was nowhere to be found. Deanna last saw her sister getting into a light-colored Chevy, possibly 1965-1968 model at Division and Putnam Street, which was the same spot where another woman, Robin Scott vanished six months prior. When Deanna flagged down the police, they seemed uninterested because Cathleen was a sex worker. Deanna did file an official report and her mother and another sister came to Grand Rapids to help find Cathleen. There is limited available information about Cathleen's disappearance.
Cathleen is described as a 28-year-old black woman with red hair and brown eyes. Her ears are pierced. She is 5'3" and 135 pounds. Some agencies spell her name as "Kathleen", but she goes by. the nickname "Cathy".
Where the case stands today: Many have theorized that Cathleen's disappearance could be connected to a string of other local disappearances and murders throughout the commercial sex industry in 1995 in Grand Rapids.
