Overview of Bryant Brastfield

Bryant Keith Brastfield was described as a quiet child who struggled in school due to a learning disability when he was young. At 10 years old, his father died from a heart attack. As an adult, he was described as a friendly person who, if asked to do something, would do it. He was a father of 2 children, a son and a brother, and he was loved by many.

Around 7:30 pm on Sunday, 04/10/2016, authorities were called to the scene and found Bryant lying on the grass under the I-10 overpass. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was initially identified by the tattoo on his neck. He was only 31 years old at the time of his death.

During the investigation, authorities were led to DNA evidence based on a witness who saw the suspect take off his shirt and throw it in a dumpster. A cracked LG cellphone and a Glock handgun with an extended 22-round magazine were also found in the dumpster. On 08/26/2016, authorities learned that a blood stain on an Old Navy shirt was linked to Larry Reed. On 11/21/2017, authorities officially announced their search for Larry Reed as a suspect in the case. He was finally arrested on 03/21/2018 and is awaiting trial in the murder of Bryant Brastfield.
