Man found shot to death inside tire store
Our cold case database is in danger of no longer being maintained.
Zaharan was a 20 year old Palestine immigrant with a bright future ahead of him. He had just started working at the family-owned and operated business that had opened its doors three weeks prior.
It was a little after 7 pm on 06/19/2012, when the Baton Rouge Police Department received the call about a shooting at the Tire Discount store.
A customer walked in and found Zaharan lying on the floor behind the counter and called 911. By the time the responding officers arrived, Zaharan had already died from what appeared to be several gunshot wounds. Zaharan had been closing for the night when the robbery and murder took place. The family was told that the suspect was able to gain access inside the business through the bay doors that were open at the time. Once inside, the suspect took nearly $1000 from the store and from Zaharan's pockets.
A $7,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. Crime Stoppers offers up to a $2,500 reward, and the family has put up the other $5,000 to help catch his killer. To date, there have been no suspects or persons of interest in Zaharan's case.
