Overview of Yayun Cheng

The search for a missing woman, Yayun Cheng, age 23, from California, who was swept out to sea at Queen's Bath in Princeville on December 5th, 2018, has been suspended after a three-day multi-agency effort. Cheng is being considered as the seventh drowning in Kauai for 2018. According to reports, Cheng was climbing the rocks near Queen's Bath when a wave swept her out to sea, she was last seen unresponsive in the water. Despite a three-day search effort by teams including Kauai firefighters, lifeguards, police and the U.S. Coast Guard, Cheng could not be located. A gate has been installed at the trailhead of Queen's Bath, but visitors can easily walk around the fence to access it. Queen's Bath is considered a unique but dangerous place, especially during winter months when the surf is more severe, thus caution should always be exercised at the location.
