Steve G. Brackens, III was just like every other teenager his age. He had just graduated from high school in May of 2014 and had his whole life ahead of him. He was a son, and a brother, and was loved by so many more family and friends. But, someone took him away from them at the young age of 18.

On Monday, 03/16/2015, Steve was standing in front of a house talking with 2 unknown males, ages 18 and 70. The home was located in the 1200 block of Sumner street in the Algiers neighborhood in New Orleans. At approximately 8:45 pm, a dark-colored SUV drove by, and someone in the vehicle opened fire upon the trio. Steve was hit two times and was taken to the University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. It is unknown if the other 2 males sustained any injuries.

No arrests have been made, and the case is still open.
