On November 1, 2003, a large party was held at the American Legion Post 82 located at 192 Watson Landing Road, Saluda, Virginia 23149. In the early morning hours of November 2, 2003, the party started to become out of control. Some at the party began to leave. During this time a gun shot was heard and witnesses stated that they observed the victim, Stephen Lamont Roye, fall to the ground. The medical examiner reported Mr. Roye was shot three times with three exit wounds. The investigation revealed Mr. Roye had altercation with another group of males immediately prior to the shooting.
