Robert was last seen at a gas station filling up his VW Gulf and purchasing a map of the Eastern half of the United States. Robert returned home. His VW and two other vehicles are accounted for. On December 5, 2022, a man named "Richard King" was found dead in his Rock Hill home. Members of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said he had paperwork with the name Robert Hoagland on it.
