Overview of Rhoda McFarland

Rhoda was an ordained minister and Air Force veteran.

She also managed the Lane Bryant store in Tinley Park, IL. She was brave, courageous, and intelligent. Rhoda took great pride in her faith, family, friends, and worked overtime to ensure her employees always had what they needed. She never imagined that one day, a man posing as a delivery driver would assault and murder her and four other women in the store she managed. Rhoda's courageous phone call to 911 while the killer was in earshot gave police valuable information about the assailant, and helped police get to the scene as quickly as possible.

Rhoda was a devout Christian and giving person

Those close to her think that she may have tried to help or forgive the assailant, even right before her death. She left behind a mother and multiple siblings that day.

On the morning of February 2nd, 2008, five women were brutally killed inside a Lane Bryant store in Brookside Marketplace, located in Tinely Park, Chicago.

Rhonda was wearing a Bluetooth headset that allowed her to call 911, a detail the unidentified assilant was unaware of. Unfortunately, the call drops. A few seconds of the man’s voice, where he claims to say “I’m losing it”,.

He then bound each woman using underwear from a display. The assailant sexually assaulted each one, before shooting them execution style in the back of the head. However, one woman, a part time employee, played dead after the assailant’s tried to shoot  her in the head, but missed. Her survival and testimony is key in establishing what little information the public knows about the case.
