""I know somebody out there knows exactly where she is and for some reason they're not telling. Somebody knows something ... I just hope that God will put a burden on their soul and make them come forward."" Janet Henderson, Rebecca's mother, to The Meridian Star 1/3/2016.
26-year-old Rebecca Paulk left her parents home on September 7, 2015, around 5:00 p.m. saying she was going out and would be back later.
The following day, Rebecca's tan Honda Civic was located in a ditch on a rural road of Whynot, a small, unincorporated community located on the Alabama/Mississippi border and about an hour away from her home in Linden. Her purse, laptop and iPad were still inside. A few days after her disappearance, Rebecca's cellphone was found about a mile away from her car.
On September 24, 2015, Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office questioned 57-year-old John Bentley Poisso, Jr. and executed a search warrant on his Old Wire Road property after authorities said they reeiceved information that Rebecca and Poisso knew each other and had been seen together in Meridian. However, the two-day search turned up no evidence tying Poisso to Rebecca's disappearance.
