Overview of Patricia Greenwood

She was once identified only by her dress. Now, Sandusky’s Jane Doe has a name.

The woman who washed up on the shores of Lake Erie, in Sandusky, Ohio, in 1980 has been identified as Patricia Eleanor Greenwood, born in 1948. Her death is being investigated as a possible homicide.

Unfortunately, there are still only a few facts known about Patricia, and much of what we know about her story currently is related to her untimely death.

When Patricia was discovered, investigators noted that her body was in "near total decay" and that thankfully, her size 12 beige "disco style" cocktail dress and white lace slip were intact (see Media Gallery below).

In her autopsy, the medical examiner determined that she had countless broken bones — but it's unknown if those injuries were caused by the ice in the lake, or of those injuries caused her death.

Now that her identity is known, investigators hope someone will share more about her story.
