Around 3:30 am, Nefertiri drives to go to the local 7-11. She is currently on medical leave from her job at Christiana Hospital and is usually up late at night.

According to Nefertiri's cousin, William, who was living in the same house at the time with his children, his son informs him after he returns from work, that he had heard a noise downstairs. When William goes downstairs to investigate, he finds an empty house.

In the early hours of June 30th, 2014, Nefertiri goes missing. A witness and neighbor, Joe Robinson claims that he heard a scream. He looks out of his second-floor window and sees Nefertiri being forced into the rear seat of her own car, 2000 Acura with Delaware plates: 404893. Police later discover a stomped loaf of bread on the front lawn, a pack of Newport cigarettes, and an unopened condom on a porch chair. Her flip-flops are also left behind near her front door.

Denise Trader goes over to her daughter's house at 6:00 pm that evening, which is when her daughter would have been home from work. Denise notices the stomped-on loaf of bread, coffee and cigarettes on Nefertiri's porch but no sign of her daughter. At first she assumes her daughter had returned to work at Christiana Hospital after being on medical leave.

Later that evening Denise tries to call Nefertiri and doesn't hear back. This is when Denise reports her daughter missing.

Due to the lack of incoming information about Neffie's disappearance, officials issue a 'Gold Alert'. A 'Gold Alert' is meant for missing people who are believed to have been abducted or those who are believed to be in grave danger.

Investigators spend time passing out Nefertiri's missing person flyers in her neighborhood, hoping to bring local awareness to her case.

Ten days after Nefertiri was abducted in front of her home, her family members make an emotional plea to the public to come forward to authorities with information.

On the eve of Nefertiti's 34th birthday, officials announce that a $10,000 reward is being offered for information in her disappearance.

At the start of their involvement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announces a $20,000 reward for any tips leading to an arrest. New Castle Police have also added a $10,000 reward. Additionally, the FBI announces that they are launching a media campaign to fund billboards along the I-95 corridor from Maryland to Connecticut.
