There is limited information about Michelle and her case. Michelle was 36 years old at the time of her death. At 19, Michelle married her husband. They had a rocky relationship, and he later passed away from a heart attack.

Michelle Becker's life wasn't perfect. She was using cocaine and had recently turned to sex work to maintain her habit. Michelle was last seen on April 27, 1996 working between Division and Canton South West . Division Street is a known location for sex work. On August 9, 1996, Michelle's body is discovered by a city worker. Michelle was found partially clothed but her body was so badly decomposed an autopsy could not be performed to reveal the cause of death.

Where the case stands today: Michelle's case remains unsolved. It has been theorized that Michelle's case may be linked to a string of missing and murdered women from the mid-1990s in Grand Rapids. In 1996, a task force was created to investigate these cases, but no new information was revealed publicly.
