Overview of Megan Foglesong

Unfortunately, not much is known about the events leading up to Megan's disappearance, yet the events which unfolded after her disappearance and in the following years received seemingly endless media coverage. Megan is consistently described by her friends and family as being "full of life, energetic, and happy-go-lucky", as well as a beautiful and kind young woman whose had a passion for playing softball.

It seems that Megan's story begins when a 9-1-1 call is made by a woman named Kelly Starnes, in early December of 2014. Kelly, a friend of the man Megan was dating at the time named David Madden, reported to police during this call that David had kidnapped Megan, put her into a straitjacket, and threatened to kill her. When police arrived, they spoke with the couple and dismissed the report. It is believed that the last official sighting of Megan was when she left David's home.

On December 7, 2015, six days after she had left David's home, a friend received a private message from Megan on Facebook stating "I'm fine", although the friend is unsure of whether it was Megan who sent this message. Another report to police was called in by a friend of Megan, who claimed that they had received a phone call from her, and that she had asked them for a ride. According to this friend, they had not been able to find her in the area she claimed she was at the time. The final unconfirmed sighting of Megan was on Christmas Day, when a man reported that he had seen her at a local liquor store. Megan is believed to have last been seen in December of 2015, and she would be reported missing by family members in February of 2016.

After Megan's disappearance, David Madden would quickly become well-known to local law enforcement, and would just as quickly become a person-of-interest in Megan's disappearance. After leading police on a high-speed chase in February of 2017, his home was searched, leading police to finding 24 pipe bombs and an illegal AK-47 rifle. In a shocking turn of events, on April 29, 2019, David Madden was involved in a shootout with police in his father's home after being pulled over for a warrant. During these events, David would shoot the Rice County Sheriff, Undersheriff and killing his father before ultimately ending his own life.

Through all of this it seems that Megan's story has lost the public's attention. The latest update in Megan's case came shortly after the shootout with police, in October of 2019 when authorities visited David's former home and dug up his dog's grave. This search was due to the spreading theory that Megan may have been killed by David and fed to his dog, before he killed the dog. Today, it has been nearly six years since Megan was last seen or heard from, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation continues searching for answers along with her family and friends.
