On May 12, 1989, 28-year-old Mary Showman was found strangled to death inside her apartment located near Mississippi Avenue and South Parker Road. She had been dead several days prior to her discovery. Mary's vehicle was not parked near her apartment complex, but later found abandoned several blocks away.
