Overview of Lashaya Nae Stine
In 2016, LaShaya Stine was 16 years old. She attended George Washington high school where she was on the honor roll. She was planning to study nursing in college and recently won an internship at the University of Colorado Hospital. LaShaya was excited for the next day, as she was interviewing for a job at Firehouse Subs. Her big sister responsibilities kicked in around 2 AM on July 15, 2016, getting after her younger brothers for still being awake. She settles them down, closes their doors, and heads out of the house. The next morning, the family wakes and realizes that LaShaya is not there. They try to reach her via her cell phone, but it goes directly to voicemail. They looked around the neighborhood but to no avail. The family contacts the police, but local PD treats it as a runaway initially and it takes almost a week for them to look at her case more seriously. The family was able to locate a surveillance video of LaShaya from around 2:30 AM. The video placed Lashaya in the area of East Montview Boulevard and North Peoria Street during the early hours of July 15th, 2016 wearing a black v-neck shirt, black stonewash jeans, silver hoop earrings, and a silver watch on her left arm. She also has a quarter-size round scar on her chest. Later that day, Lashaya had her job interview at Firehouse Subs but never showed. Multiple witnesses would later report seeing Lashaya around the Colfax Avenue area. Lashaya meant to come back, as her clothes, wallet, and phone charger were all still in her room. Her family believes that Lashaya may be a victim of human trafficking.
