Overview of Larissa Sam

Larissa Marie Sam was a 22 year old mother living in Greenwood, Indiana at the time of her disappearance on June 21, 2015. Family members describe Larissa as always being happy, easygoing, and a very devoted mother to her four-year-old son. Her son was everything to her, and her family explains that she would never leave her son willingly. Larissa had dreams of leaving her job at a local strip club and singing to play guitar in an audition for American Idol. Larissa had plans to audition only two days after her disappearance.

In the early morning hours of June 21, 2015, Larissa is known to have left her job at an Indianapolis strip club, at around 1:30 am. After work, Larissa made a trip to her uncle's home to visit and have a few drinks. At around 2:30 am, while at her uncle's home, Larissa posts on her personal Facebook page, reading "I wanna text someone. Texting buddy?" followed by her phone number. As the night continued, Rusty, Larissa's uncle, reported that Larissa had left sometime around 4:30 am, after he had fallen asleep.

Later that same morning, when Larissa does not arrive at her grandmother's home to pick up her son, her family calls the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to report her missing. After only a few hours since she had been last seen at her uncle's home, Larissa's car is found parked at an abandoned home in the Mars Hill neighborhood of Indianapolis. According to investigators, her keys were found in the car's ignition, and her wallet, which held her credit cards and cash, and her cell phone, which was missing the SIM card, were all found inside of her car. Investigators also noted that the car had a flat tire, and quickly ruled out robbery as a motive for Larissa's disappearance.

During their investigation, police collected surveillance footage from a neighbor who lived across the street from the home where Larissa's car was parked. According to investigators, the footage shows an unknown man backing Larissa's car into the driveway of the abandoned home, before running away from the vehicle at around 5:01 am.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation joined local police in their search for Larissa after an unnamed individual made a post on Facebook suggesting that Larissa may have been kidnapped and taken to another country. After following up on these leads, the FBI concluded that this was likely a fake tip and that the tip may have been an attempt at extorting the family.

Larissa Marie Sam was 22 years old at the time of her disappearance and was described as being 5'7" tall and weighing around 135lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. Larissa's natural hair color is dark brown, but at the time of her disappearance, it was dyed black with red hair extensions. Larissa has the following tattoos: a scroll design on her lower back, stars, and rainbow-colored streaks across the back of both shoulders, a tattoo of candies, a cupcake, an ice cream cone, musical notes, and the word "Princess" across her upper chest. Larissa wears black-rimmed glasses, which she may or may not have in her possession and may go by the nickname "Rissa". Today, Larissa would be 28 years old.

Anyone with information regarding Larissa's disappearance should contact the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's Missing Persons Unit or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. There is currently a $1,000 reward for any information leading to Larissa's whereabouts or the resolution of her case.
