Overview of Larissa Lone Hill
Prior to her disappearance, Larissa Lone Hill, a member of the Lakota Indian tribe, lived in Manderson, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge reservation. She would occasionally stay with her sister, Carol Piper, at her home in Rapid City. Larissa, who also went by Rissa or Lisa, is the sixth of eight children. Perhaps because of her upbringing in a large family, Larissa loved helping family members with chores, but particularly enjoyed taking care of young children. As a little girl she was energetic and loved music. Within her family she was known for her big heart, and often did her chores without even being asked. Larissa has a two-year-old daughter who lives with her father's family. Her family described Larissa as a devoted mother who regularly visited her daughter. If she couldn’t get a ride to visit her, she would hitchhike or even walk to get there. Her family says she remained a helpful and kind hearted sister, daughter and aunt, even as a young adult. She would prepare hot water bottles for her mom when she experienced stomach pain. She would regularly read to her sister's five young children. However, Larissa also struggled with drug use which could create tension in her home at times. Lariss moved out of her sister’s home in September, 2016. A month later, on October 3, 2016, Larissa texted her cousin to say she was going to the Rushmore Mall in Rapid City, SD, with two male friends from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. A few days later, when the family had not heard from her Larissa, her brother reported her as missing. Police did not officially announce her missing persons case until 6 months later. One of the men that Larissa was with on the day she was last seen, claimed that he dropped her off at a party. Larissa has not been seen or heard from since. Law enforcement is intentionally holding back certain aspects of the case, but they have stated that they have reason to believe Larissa was murdered and that her body may be up to 100 miles outside of Rapid City. There is currently a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the conviction of the individual(s) responsible for her disappearance or where her body is located if she is deceased. At the time of her disappearance, Larissa Lone Hill was 21-years-old, was around 5'3-5'4" tall, and weighed between 120-130 pounds. Larissa has brown hair, brown eyes, and the following tattoos; a paw print on her hand, and the words "mom", "Lisa", and "Luda" on other parts of her body.
