Kenneth Schweighart disappeared on March 2, 1982, from the New Lisbon State School for Retarded Males in New Lisbon, New Jersey, where he had been living for four years. He was a resident of the institution, and his family lived in Garfield, New Jersey. Schweighart was last seen leaving the campus at 11:45 a.m. and has not been heard from since.

Interestingly, Schweighart was not the only resident of the New Lisbon State School to disappear and never be heard from again. Steven Anderson and David Williams disappeared together from the same facility in 1975, though it has not been established that the cases are related.

The New Lisbon State School is now the New Lisbon Developmental Center, and it is coed. However, the disappearances of all three individuals remain unsolved.
