Joseph was last seen near the St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, after he checked himself out of a treatment program. Joseph's mother Carol Entrekin stated Joseph was bipolar and had hard days at times.

Over the next month, Birmingham Police Department searched wood areas with K9s, checked surveillance video from businesses, checked jails and local hospitals, but those searches yielded no answers or leads.

On April 28, 2021, Carol told local media CBS42 that Joseph had not made contact with anyone in the family nor had his bank account been touched.

Today, Joseph's family is still searching for answers.
