Overview of John William Lowe, Jr.

John William Lowe Jr. and his stepson Ryan King were standing outside their Alpine home on Oakdale Road around 8:00 p.m. on November 30, 2015, when witnesses say an unknown person walked up to John and Ryan to ask for directions. Tina Lowe, John's wife and Ryan's mother, was inside the home and heard John and Ryan giving the person directions. Several moments later she heard gunshots and stepped outside to find both Ryan and John laying in the yard with gunshot wounds. Witnesses say the person fled the scene on foot, but no one has been able to identify them.

"It feels like I'm still in a nightmare. I'm trying to cope as best I can," Tina Lowe to AL.com 12/7/15.

Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene. John was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

In 2016, the Governor's office offered a reward of $5,000 for information, and Ryan's father Larry King offered an additional $5,000 reward for information in 2017. Recently a private donor has come forward to offer an additional $2,500 reward.

“Someone out there knows something about what happened that night. Sometimes with homicides people with information are reluctant to come forward at first, but we’re hoping this new offer will encourage someone to come forward,” said Sgt. Mike Jones to Sylacauga News in 2017.

Talledega County Sheriff's Office has interviewed many witnesses, but have not received any information that allows them to identify any suspects and no arrests have been made.
