Overview of Jennifer Powers
On July 12, 2008, Jennifer's husband Jason Powers said he woke up in the middle of the night to find Jennifer gone without any note or indication of where she went. She didn't take her purse, wallet, driver's license, cigarettes, or medication. Jennifer hasn't been seen since.
While Jennifer's family acknowledges she struggled with substance abuse, they say she wouldn't have abandoned her three children.
""We know for a fact she was a good mother no matter what the circumstances were."" Investigator Ken Andrews to The News Courier 3/31/18
Over the years, information has led Madison County Sheriff's Office to believe Jennifer was a victim of a homicide. One major red flag that Jennifer wasn't just missing was when her 17-year-old daughter died from cancer in 2013 and Jennifer did not attend the funeral.
""It's definitely not a missing-person case. It is a homicide case."" Investigator Andrews to The News Courier 3/31/18.
Jennifer has been declared legally deceased. While they do have a person of interest, that person has become uncooperative.
MCSO stated that cadaver dogs were used during the search for Jennifer and they indicated both at Jennifer's home and the adjoining property. However, attempts to locate her remains have been unsuccessful.
